How to Get a Gulf Citizenship

Buy property? No
Spend years working for a local company and have a flawless civic record? No
Work as an engineer for an oil company? No
Convert to Islam? No
Help a state university get its first international accreditation? No (You can't even get a raise equal to inflation, evidently)

Be a really strong Bulgarian weightlifter, a Uruguayan footballer, a Chinese chess phenom? Yes
Be a Kenyan runner? Yes, until you compete in Israel

Who wouldn't take a million dollars to change their name and citizenship and become a star athlete?

I can only shake my head and say that I'm not surprised. Culturally pure unless we really want a new toy or some money.

Doesnt suprise me in the least..The face of Qatar's 2016 Olympic bid is the female archer/rally driver Nada Zeidan whose original citizenship I've been told is cloaked in a bit of mystery. Mind you, it doesnt just happen in the middle east, theres that Chinese female badminton player who wasnt selected by the chinese team for being too short so she got German citizenship (they were short of badminton players).

The Syrian singer Asalah Nasri has 3 nationalities US/Syrian/Bahraini

..and I suppose theres a price for everthing.
